Field Data Generator™ (FDG™) Operator Trainer & Planning Systems

MSi’s FDG™ provides a comprehensive, very robust Operator Trainer and Engineering Planning platform for conducting off-line simulations of real-world process conditions for multiphase & single-phase production, gathering, transmission and distribution operations.

FDG™ is the only commercial package that offers a fully-integrated, asset-wide training environment including single-phase, two-phase and three-phase flow in wells, gathering lines, major trunk lines, distribution systems and both off-shore and on-shore processing equipment.

The FDG™ package can include modeling of pertinent topsides and downstream processing facilities, including separators, scrubbers, compressors, pumps, wing valves, chokes, columns, etc.


CMS (Caister-Murdoch) FDG

FDG™ allows the Operator to understand the full gamut of asset-wide interactivity, in a user-friendly environment. FDG™ gives the Operator to facility to quickly and effectively see the cause-and-effect of different user-defined field scenarios on the overall operations.

FDG™ accomplishes this in real-time speeds or several hundred, even several thousand times real-time, depending on application, while maintaining robust operations up-time.

Based on the same field-proven simulation engine as our real-time, on-line packages, FDG™ is designed to achieve extremely fast run-time speeds (500 to 200,000 x real-time).

Coupled with MSi’s real-time, on-line applications, FDG™ can even take the current, real-time state of the field operations and use that as the starting point for the training session.

With FDG™, there is no more need to be ham-strung with interface, speed and robustness issues when dealing with a separate simulator engine for the wells and the pipelines and then a separate simulator engine for the process equipment and so on.

Fit-For-Purpose Applications

FDG™ offers one very robust, user-friendly Operator Training platform to do a myriad of operational simulations and much more.

Case in point, with FDG™ the Operator can simulate the closing and opening of individual well chokes simulating production rampup/rampdown. They can immediately see the impact of that action on the slugging behavior and fluids coming into the individual gathering lines and into the manifolded lines. They can then visualize the cascade effect of that event on all the processing equipments downstream, both topsides as well as onshore receiving facilities. They can even simulate a leak on the pipeline.

In this example scenario, FDG™ gives them quick and accurate answers whether their action will cause slugging, bring off-spec production into the processing plant, swamp/flood their processing equipment, send a pressure surge downstream, etc. or everything will be OK according to plan.
